NOTICE TO INVESTORS: The producers of Busby Babes have informed Silver Lining that development funding is no longer needed for that project. The company is no longer trading as BusbyUman Productions Ltd and has been renamed Silver Lining Productions No.42 Ltd. A new replacement project entitled Disgrace has been swapped into Silver Lining Productions No.42 Ltd.
Before he was 25, John Newton had been press-ganged into the Navy, deserted, captured and imprisoned, fallen in love with the beautiful but disinterested Polly, captained his own slave ship, been held captive in Africa as a slave himself, lived hard, drank hard, partied hard, and narrowly escaped being lost at sea. But, when he finally turned to God, the same craving that drove his audacious lifestyle became a passion to serve God. Newton ultimately became one of Britain’s most beloved Anglican vicars and penned the world’s most famous hymn, Amazing Grace.
The Producers have acquired and exclusive option to the biography of Newton written by Jonathan Aitken, “John Newton, From Disgrace to Amazing Grace”. They are currently raising funds for development of the film including commissioning a screenplay, attaching an international film director, attaching cast, budgeting, location scouting and raising the balance of the production funding. The film is estimated to cost between US$15m - $20m.
